Ruth 1:16-17

Today I want to share some scripture I enjoy.

God has brought the book of Ruth to my mind recently, so this morning I decided to open up my Bible and read through the 4 chapters. 1:16-17 really spoke to me. The praiseful song of Ruth speaking to her mother-in-law, Naomi, is touching.

Naomi’s husband and sons have died, and Ruth’s sister-in-law has left to go back to her homeland. When Naomi instructs her to return to the place where she came from, Ruth is adamant to stay with Naomi, to return to her mother-in-law’s land, Israel.

But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.”

They are welcomed back to Israel, and Ruth goes on to work, marry and serve God and Naomi.

What’s so unique about these verses is Ruth’s utter submission and willingness to be a servant. She could easily go back to her homeland (as Naomi has instructed her); she would be welcomed and could live a decent life. But instead, she follows Naomi to Israel. In the verse, she claims “your people will be my people and your God my God.” After being with Naomi for so long, she has seen the error in her ways of praising many gods. She opens up her heart to let God do His work in her life, and He blesses her abundantly.

There are only 2 books in scripture that are named after women, this along with Esther. Ruth is a beautiful example of how our lives might look when we let God take the wheel. In complete submission to Christ, we are glorifying Him, allowing Him to carry out the plans for our life.

What a glorious concept that is.

Tomorrow: Low Cal Peppermint Hot Cocoa. Perfect winter treat!

Light Chocolate Muffins

Organizing is extremely invigorating to me.

My baking supplies, schoolwork, and photography props? Yep. They’re all perfectly put in their places in this too small room.

And I am very much invigorated. #FridayNightFunNight

Now the only challenge that remains is keeping them in those places.

Guys, I go out and have fun. And I love spending time with friends.

And I also love organizing. Oh, and baking.

Baking muffins.

And I hope you do too :)

1 cup peanut butter (I used crunchy, but creamy will certainly work)

2 mashed bananas

2 eggs

1 t vanilla extract

1/2 t baking soda

2 T unsweetened cocoa powder

Preheat oven to 400° F. Mix everything together in a large bowl. The more mixed you can get it, the better. (It’s an arm workout!!) Distribute batter evenly into greased or nonstick muffin tins. Bake for 15 minutes. This recipe makes 9 medium sized muffins.

Have a restful Saturday with these muffins –you deserve it!

((((Maybe even throw in some rejuvenating organizing? So tempting…))))

P.S. Please consider these the replacement of those chocolate PB cookies I posted the other day :)
